Duct-taping your child is not "playing differently", it's child abuse
Thursday, 22 December 2011 01:57 Published in What Others SayA disturbing image of a child with her mouth, hands and feet duct taped has been circulating the Internet today. Andre Dmcg Curry apparently posted the photo of his daughter with the message “This is wut happens wen my baby hits me back. ; )" included in the Facebook posting. As you can imagine, the Internet is outraged.
When the Internet is outraged about stupid parenting, I turn to Bad Breeders for an in-your-face, no-holds-barred look at the issue. Deena didn't disappoint and had this gem up today.
She shares:
As of right now all Chicago Police will say is there is an investigation underway.
Curry’s friend Je’Vanna Cobbins said she believes Curry was just “playing around and "I wouldn’t call it child abuse.” Well Je’Vanna… I would and it is! She also said that “the image went a bit too far,” but that Curry was “being playful with his child” and “people play with their children differently.” Playful? Really? What is playful about binding and gagging your young child? Anyone, anyone, Bueller?
So what do you think? Is this playful or just straight up child abuse?
Note: We chose not to run the photo, but you can see it at the Bad Breeders' post.

I was at the launch of the Migrant Workers’ Centre’s (MWC) photo exhibition today at NTUC Centre, a three-day exhibition held in conjunction with International Migrants’ Day.
What struck me were the facets of the migrant workers’ lives that were depicted through the photographs. They were very candid photos of workers in their various states of work and play.
Remember those struggling: SDP Christmas message

Editorial
The Committee of Inquiry should look into both SMRT and its regulators.
The public backlash from the unexpectedly severe disruptions experienced on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) lines this past week has jolted both the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit Corporation - SMRT - (which operates the lines on which the problems occurred) and the Government.
With hundreds of thousands of commuters affected by a quick succession of breakdowns over a spate of several days, there is little wonder that public outrage - already simmering because of recent fee hikes for public transport and taxis – at public transport companies and their government masters have boiled over in print and electronic media, with even a hastily organised protest at Hong Lim Park coming to pass over the weekend.
